Business terms
Last updated: 25 October 2026
1. Who we are and when these terms apply
Colourcities is a sole proprietorship (Chamber of Commerce no. 42172737, VAT NL005556914B77), Bandoengstraat 40, 2022 EK Haarlem, the Netherlands, info@colourcities.com.
These terms apply to all deliveries to business customers with an approved business account ("the shop"). They apply in addition to the arrangements in your account. The terms and conditions for consumers and the right of withdrawal do not apply to business customers. The shop's own terms do not apply unless we agree otherwise in writing.
2. Business account and type of partnership
You apply for a business account through the form on our website. We review every application and may decline an application without giving a reason.
When applying, you choose a type of partnership: wholesale purchase or consignment. Any change is agreed by email.
3. Ordering
You order through your personal account page in the online store, using the email address of your account. After ordering you receive an order confirmation by email; the order is then concluded.
There is no minimum order quantity.
4. Prices
You order at the wholesale prices you see after logging in to the online store. Prices are in euros, excluding VAT, unless stated otherwise. Shipping costs are paid by the shop, including for consignment. You see them before completing your order.
We may change wholesale prices. We announce any change by email at least 30 days in advance. Orders that have already been confirmed keep the old price.
A recommended retail price may be shown on the cover or in the online store. You set your own selling price.
5. Delivery
We deliver to the delivery address of your account. Delivery times are indicative; if there is a delay, we will let you know as soon as possible.
For wholesale purchases, the risk of loss or damage passes to the shop on delivery. For consignment, see article 7.
6. Payment for wholesale purchases
For wholesale purchases you receive the invoice on delivery. You pay within 30 days of the invoice date.
If you do not pay on time, we will send a reminder. If payment is still not made, we may charge the statutory commercial interest and reasonable collection costs, and suspend new deliveries until outstanding invoices have been paid.
7. Consignment
With consignment, we deliver books that you only pay for once they have been sold.
- Ownership. The books remain the property of Colourcities until they have been sold to a customer of the shop.
- Reporting sales. On the 1st of each month you receive an email with a link. Through that link you report, per title, how many copies you sold in the previous month. If you do not report, we send reminders on the 8th and the 15th.
- Invoice and payment. Based on your reported sales, we send an invoice for the copies sold. You pay within 15 days of the invoice date. Article 6 (late payment) also applies.
- Care and risk. You store the books carefully and sell them only in your own shop. Theft, loss or damage in your shop is at your expense; we invoice those copies as sold.
- Stock check. We may ask to count the stock together, for example when the partnership ends.
- Ending. Either party may end the consignment by email with one month's notice. Afterwards you report your final sales, pay that invoice and return unsold, undamaged books to us at your own expense.
8. Retention of title for wholesale purchases
Delivered books remain the property of Colourcities until the invoice has been paid in full. You may already sell them in the ordinary course of your business.
9. Inspection on delivery, complaints and returns
Check the delivery on receipt. Report damage, missing books or an incorrect delivery within 7 days of delivery to info@colourcities.com, with your order number and, if possible, a photo. If the complaint is justified, we will deliver a new copy free of charge or credit the amount. In that case, return shipping costs are paid by Colourcities.
For wholesale purchases we do not take back unsold books, unless agreed in advance by email.
10. Liability
Our liability is limited to the invoice amount of the order concerned. We are not liable for indirect damage, such as loss of profit. This limitation does not apply in the case of intent or gross negligence.
11. Use of the Colourcities name and images
You may use the Colourcities name and images of the books to sell the books in your shop and online. Other uses must be agreed in advance. All illustrations and designs remain the property of Colourcities.
We list shops that have placed a first order with their name, town and address on our stockists page. If you do not want this, please let us know.
12. Ending the partnership
Either party may end the partnership at any time by email. Outstanding invoices remain payable. For consignment, the notice arrangement in article 7 applies.
13. Changes and applicable law
We may change these terms. We announce changes by email at least 30 days in advance. These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in the district of Noord-Holland.
This is a translation. In case of any difference, the Dutch version prevails.
